Vulcan has been free since 2021. Not free-with-an-asterisk — every feature, every chain, no credit card, no trial clock. Five years of it. In that time more than 30,000 Discord servers have installed Vulcan and over 500,000 collectors have verified without ever connecting a wallet.
On October 1, 2026, Vulcan will introduce paid plans. For a lot of servers, nothing changes — the free plan stays free.
Why we're making this change: Vulcan is software, provided as a service. It isn't a protocol. There is no token, and there never will be one — several companies in this space tried funding their tooling that way, and it didn't work out for them or for the people holding the bag. A subscription is the boring answer. It's also the one that's still standing in five years, and it lines our incentives up with yours: you pay us to keep your roles right, so keeping your roles right is the job.
The free plan is meant to be genuinely useful: up to 100 verified members, 3 rules, and every feature. Roughly four in ten servers running Vulcan today fit inside it, and they'll keep running exactly as they do now. Above that it's $20/month to 1,000 members and $50/month to 5,000, and every feature works the same on all of them — which means nearly nine in ten servers on Vulcan pay either nothing or $20. Month to month, cancel any time. Going over a limit never removes anyone's role — you get 30 days to upgrade or trim usage, and after that we simply pause new grants. Billing starts October 1 for everyone above the free plan.
Some of you won't pay, and that's a fair answer. Go look at Collab.Land and Matrica — both are great options built by great teams. What I'd strongly advise is that you don't swap in an unvetted free bot instead. Fake verification bots are how NFT Discords get drained, and never asking a member to connect a wallet is the whole reason Vulcan works the way it does. That's a security decision, not a budget one.
